Barcelona-born bassist Manel Forti\u00e0 displays all his compositional and performer talents on his new trio album \u00abDespertar\u00bb (due out April 21st, 2022 via Segell Microscopi\/Altafonte Distribution), a well-balanced reflection of two traditions: his Mediterranean and Spanish roots over the New York Modern Jazz rhythms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis album is very important to me because it reflects one of the most transcendent moments in my artistic life, when I was living in NYC. I feel that this experience changed my life and I think that I have grown a lot there\u201d <\/em>Forti\u00e0 says. \u201cAlso it is the first time I record a full album with all my compositions and I can share that with two of my favorite musicians with whom I have a great connection personally and musically, it is like a dream\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Spanish title \u00abDespertar\u00bb translates into \u201cawakening\u201d, which references the last tune of the album. In contrast, the first one is called \u00abDormir\u00bb (\u00abfall sleep\u00bb).
