A new vision about folk music where flamenco, jazz and iberian folklore go together.
LIBÉRICA presents ALÉ (Iberian Chants)
The group Libérica, led by bassist Manel Fortià, presents their second album “ALÉ – Iberian Chants” with a luxury band where the incorporation of Alba Careta and the stellar collaborations of Antonio Lizana and Carles Dénia stand out.
After the recognition obtained with the previous album, Liberia has been able to play with great public success in such emblematic stages as the Bimhuis in Amsterdam, Lantaren Venster in Rotterdam, the Vitoria Jazz Festival, Castello Sforzzezzo in Milan, Budapest Music Center, Unterfahrt in Munich…
Now with a more mature sound they present ALÉ, a tribute to the free songs and work songs from both the north and the south and the strong connections that exist in the Iberian Peninsula, always looking for common points between traditional Catalan, Valencian and flamenco songs.
The voices of the Catalan singers Pere Martínez, the Valencian Carles Dénia and the Cádiz-born Antonio Lizana represent these coexisting worlds within the Peninsula that meet in Libérica in an organic and free way thanks to jazz. The trumpet and voice of the wonderful Alba Careta and the saxophone of the young and talented Aina López bring fresh air and new energy. In the rhythmic base we find the pianist Max Villavecchia, the drummers Raphael Pannier and Oriol Roca, and Manel Fortià himself on the double bass who directs the ship from the rear. A musical journey where we travel from east to west and from north to south through their songs and always at the service of music.
In this album we travel through Valencian lands and discover the Malagueñas, the Granaínas, Cants de Batre… while we continue with one foot in Catalonia and the other in Andalusia, fusing lullabies and other emblematic music from these cultures, very well interpreted by the main voice of Pere Martínez, who seduces us by demonstrating a great variety of registers and an innate ease for adapting them to nowadays.
